Whatever you consider to be your version of an ‘adventure’ Costa Rica has your adventure waiting for you. This small country is a vacation destination simply because it has so much to offer and such a beautiful tropical climate in which to do it all. There are hundreds of vacation activities scattered all throughout Costa Rica. The playground of Costa Rica will have you feeling your child heart once again. You can swim with dolphins, chase butterflies, or zip line through the rainforests to your heart’s content. Here are a few ideas for adventures in case you need a little shove.

Way up in the clouds, 5436 feet above sea level is the majestic Adrenal Volcano. Surrounding it’s presence, are the rainforests and rivers to it. Needless to say, many of the best adventures begin here. If you have ever wanted to fly solo above it all, a canopy tour would be your pick. On a zip line across the treetops through the rainforest is an experience second to none. Some may want to keep their feet securely on land, taking the many nature walks thru the forests to check out the wildlife, the fauna and have a fun pit stop to soak in the many hot springs. If you like the idea of water, be sure to check the white water rafting available in this area as well. There is even swimming under a waterfall.

Another adventure hot spot is the popular Manuel Antonio national park. It is also a rainforest but also includes miles and miles of coastline. This brings more water opportunities to the adventurous heart. Scuba diving, deep sea fishing, snorkeling, surfing, and swimming, all yours for the asking. When you have had enough water for a moment, then embark on one of the nature tours and witness the butterflies by the thousands, or the birds you have only seen in pictures. Take a horseback ride on the beach or thru unbeaten paths along the lowlands.

What is great about Costa Rica is that they are so accommodating. There are family adventure packages, honeymoon packages and singles packages. For the more advanced, there is multi-sport adventure packages including team sport ventures. With the family adventure packages you could become explorers, using the rainforest as educational tool and excite the young with a floating trip. The family can take surf or snorkeling lessons. For honeymooners, why not throw in the spa option for romance after spending the morning bareback riding down the beach. Another more intense different kind of adventure available in Costa Rica is called ‘homestay’ where you have the opportunity to experience rural life and culture by staying locally with a host and being involved in community activities. Several projects are available such as planting coffee trees or working in a cloud forest. This adventure is designed to create a deeper, more attached appreciation and love for Costa Rica. You almost begin to believe you are a resident, it could happen. Anything is possible in Costa Rica.
